Social Security: Long-Range Projection Unchanged for Trust Fund Reserve Depletion

On Wednesday, June 22, 2016 the Social Security Board of Trustees posted a press release on the status of the Social Security Trust Fund and it's depletion. Sadly, the long-range projection remains unchanged. OASDI funds are projected to become depleted in 2034, DI funds will become depleted in 2023, and Medicare part A will become depleted in 2028. So far Medicare Part B and Part D will remain solvent in the near to long-term. The depleted funds will still pay out a benefit but at a reduced percentage.
