J. Brock Dexter, CFP®

Brock's interest in personal finance has been a lifelong passion, from his days in the United States Air Force to his more than three decades in financial advising. Known for his exceptional attention to detail and expertise, Brock is dedicated to guiding clients through every step of their financial journeys with precision and care.

 

 

Brock has over 30 years of experience working as a financial advisor. His long tenure as a financial advisor includes work advising senior executives at Fortune 500 companies, high-net-worth individuals globally, and pro-bono work volunteering his expertise to those in need. 


His specialization includes Pension and Retirement Planning, Executive Incentive Compensation (such as Employee Stock Options), and Tax Planning for Individuals and Small Businesses.  


Brock served 11 years on active duty as a T-38 and an A-10 “Warthog” pilot. In 1988, he began a 17-year flying career with US Airways while also serving in the Air Force Reserve. Throughout his flying career, Brock had an acute interest in investing and taxes that led him to his current career in financial advising.

Certificates

Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) – a professional certification mark granted in the United States by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (“CFP Board”). To attain the right to use the CFP® marks, an individual must satisfy the following requirements:


  • Education –  Complete a Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited United States college or university. Complete an advanced college-level course of study addressing the financial planning subject areas as determined by the CFP Board. CFP Board financial planning subject areas include insurance planning and risk management, employee benefits planning, investment planning, income tax planning, retirement planning, and estate planning.   
  • Examination – Pass the comprehensive CFP® Certification Examination. 
  • Experience – Complete at least three years of full-time financial planning-related experience (or the equivalent, measured as 2,000 hours per year).
  • Ethics – Agree to be bound by CFP Board’s Standards of Professional Conduct, a set of documents outlining the ethical and practice standards for CFP® professionals.
